Chapter five covers the accouterments of medium cavalry dubbed lancers for their medium armor, shields, and use of spears or light lances as well as their tactical employment as skirmishers and raiders. The last chapter details the use of heavily armored and armed cavalry alluded to as armored cavalry, but the author constantly references knights using heavy lances, swords, maces, picks, and axes with shields to be used as shock troops for direct engagement with the enemy.
