The World of Loryn: How to: Apply Make up. Step by step.

Make-up! Who's lady or woman out there that does not love make-up? No one! Even the guys love it too. Make-up is one of the essential things that make the young lady and woman feel more beautiful and attractive. I'm not saying that if you do not wear make up your not beautiful or attractive at all. There still some girls out there that are beautiful and attractive without any make up on their face. But still make up ads up some colour to your face to be more confident. But of course we must not forget the saying; "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." For me that saying is true but I add up with my own words to that. And it goes like this, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but it'll be more beautiful to see if you have some colours from your face rather than a pale one." =)) Just kidding! Anyways, let’s back on what I am saying. Make up is one of the most common things that girls buy beside from the bags, shoes, and cloths. I remember the first time I wear makeup. I was on my kinder year. There was a celebration on my school. If I'm not mistaken it was the United Nation celebration. And I was the representative in my section as Ms. Mexico. I'm so excited that I wake up so early for the preparation. My aunt is the one who curled my hair and do my makeup.  I dressed up and do my girly swag. Hahaha! Just joking. Anyways. That was my first try I putting make up on my face. And guess what I love it! I got my first press powder/blusher and lipstick when I was 3rd year high school. I'm only 15 then. My mom allows me of that because I was on my teenage year. Until I learn to apply one by one. I learn to use the eye liner, curler, and mascara. And putting some colour on your lid. Actually I learn that lately. I'm 24 years old when I learn to apply eye shadow on my lid by myself. I found out that there is a step by step for that. I watch some videos of some make up gurus on YouTube. I study, learned and remake all their methods to myself. And guess what it’s not pretty bad for the beginner like me. Now, I can tell that I make my own way of smoky eye from black to brown to purple by experimenting. Looking to some magazines, you will find a lot of inspiration there where you can apply to yourself and to others as well. Yes! To others. Do it first to yourself and then try it to the people you know. Like your sister, cousin or best friends. And maybe who can tell it will be the start of your career. Being a make-up artist. Doing make up is like painting or coloring a coloring book like what we did when we are all in our younger years, when we were a kid. The only different is, your face will be the live canvas of you painting that is according to the one makeup guru that I really love, Michelle Phan. Whose not know Michelle Phan. She's the number one guru in you tube when it comes to make-up and she also the founder of Ipsy. She came in a long way before she gets what she has right now. That's why I admire her a lot. I'm not saying this that I love to be like her. Although I wish I can. But I'm happy for the simple way that I can do to share my knowledge about this. For me, make-up gives you the freedom to be creative. To be yourself. To be imaginative. To express yourself. Here I tell you the step-by-step on how you can apply makeup base on how I do it. From the foundation up to the eye shadow and lipstick. So, you’re ready. Let’s start!

First you need to make sure that's your face is clean and you apply all you regimen before putting some make up on your lovely face. Don't forget to put some moisturizer, with SPF much better. For the good protection under the sun. After you done with that, we will proceed to the first step. The Foundation.

                                                          

Foundation- It can be in the form of liquid or compact. It depends on what you prefer. For me, I prefer liquid foundation. Choosing your foundation is easy. You just need to see what the shade of your foundation is closer to your skin complexion. In the market you can try the tester. Don't put it behind your hand because you cannot tell if its suit you or not. I mean if it your shade. Put it on your jaw line, just below your cheek. Between the middle of your chin and under your ear. Why there? Because for me the skin on that area is more clear or tone. And then blend the foundation. If the foundation blends well on your skin or matches on your complexion and well that's the right foundation for you. It's the same thing on a compact foundation. How to Apply: Get some ample amount of foundation and put it on your forehead, cheek, and chin. It’s like you making a connecting dot. And then blend away. In blending you can used make up brush, sponge, or for more easy way your hands. But make sure that your hands is clean. We don't want to transfer any bacteria from your hand to your face. After you blend it well or after the color disappear on your skin, we will proceed to the next step. The Concealer.

                                                                                        
Concealer- Now we’re going to proceed to the all time best friends of the girls in make-up, concealer. In choosing your concealer, it's should be 2x lighter your complexion or your foundation. Conceal all blemishes and all the unwanted marks on your face, especially your dark circle. How to apply: In applying your concealer, just get some ample amount from your tube and apply it on the areas you want to conceal. When it comes to your dark circle, just make a connection dot from your inner corner of your eyes to the outer corner. And then blend it with concealer brush or sponge. If you want to use your finger. Use your ring finger because it’s the weakest one. Dab carefully until it covers everything or until it'll blend well. Note: Don't apply too much because it will be look cakey.

 Powder- Use some powder to settle your foundation and concealer. So it will look matte. You can use loose powder or a compact powder. Depends on what you love to use. You can use a powder brush for this method. How to apply: Dip or sweep your powder brush on your loose powder, top off the excess and then sweep it to your face for a matte finish.

Eyebrow- After you've done on your base now you will start to form your eyebrow. I know some of us find it difficult. Because sometimes it may turn out on the way we don't want it to be. In my case it takes a lot of practice until I can say that I perfectly know how to form my eyebrow. But if you have a perfect eyebrow (the thick one) you’re lucky you can skip this part, except you just need to brush it with eye brow brush.To look clean. How to do it: To start used a brown eye brow pencil to because it will contrast your look or smooth it. You can also use black eyebrow pencil but be careful of that. Too much of black pencil on your brow doesn't look good on you. Start outlining your eyebrow; just follow your original eyebrow shape and start filling it up. After that, used the eyebrow brush to soften the look. To be more natural than a fake one.

             

Eye Shadow- Now let’s start applying some colour on your eyelids. First, you need to prime your lid, by applying a primer. Primer is one of a must in makeup. It helps your eye shadow last longer and to pop more. When it comes to eye shadow don’t be afraid to experiment. But for the beginners, you can start with the neutral colour palette or also known as the earth colour. Like the picture above. In this colour palette you can re-create some known look, like the smoky brown eye look. How to do it: By applying the light colour first all over your eyelid. After that apply the darker colour on your outer lid, making a “v” shape. After that you can use your blending brush and dab it first to the medium dark colour and apply it your crease. Blend it well, until the colour looks soft. Note: Don’t blend too much; it may cause the colour to disappear or over blend. Then for the last part, put the medium light colour to your brow bone. It helps your brow lift a little bit. If you do not want to used all the colour's to your eyes. It's ok, you can use at least 2 shades from your pallete. Like what I said, you need to be creative and playful.

Eye Liner- Now after you've finished with your eye shadow and you satisfied with the result. Apply the eye liner on upper lash line and lower lash line. For some of you who do not know the techniques for the wing you can stay for the simple method of applying eyeliner on your upper lash line. Here you can use pencil or liquid liner. For the beginners I recommend the pencil. It’s more easy to use.  How to apply: Start on the inner corner of your eyes working up to your outer corner. It should be close to the lash line as possible. Make some connecting line like this -------- and then connect it until it become one line. If you wish to go for more dramatic look you can put some winged at the end of the line. By extended it just a little bit. Note: Don't stretch your eyes while applying eyeliner. It may cause the first sign of wrinkles. The elasticity of our skin in our eye area is very sensitive. You don't want to build that annoying line under your eyes, right. So don't stretch it.




Curler & Mascara- Curl your lash with eye curler then apply mascara. Always curl it first before applying mascara. It’s also helping your eye to be more open. Simply sweep your mascara on your upper lashes and also your lower lashes. Don’t ignore your lower lashes. It also needs some extra love.





Now let’s go to your cheek. Its needs more colour there.

Bronzer.                                                                                                                 Blush.                      

Blush & Bronzer- Here you can apply blush even without a bronzer but if you like to put some bronzer in your face to be more dramatic you can do so. Bronzer is a like a compact powder but its more on the golden colour or tan or darker than you’re complexion. You can find a lot of bronzer in the beauty market. You can choose which
one suits you or you like. But be careful in applying this because too much of this may result like you were gone for too long under the sun. It’s not pretty. How to apply it and where? Apply the bronzer on your face where the sun is naturally hit. Apply it to your forehead near to your hairline, on your jaw line, then along the cheek. Build the colour gradually until you have the exact shade that you want. Bronzer is more on contouring your features.  Then you can apply small amount of blush on your cheeks to add some colour. When it comes to blush, choose the colour that helps you to look more glowing, much lighter than your bronzer. The colour pink rose is one of the blush colour that I love because its gives me the effect of I’m just naturally blushing. How to apply: Sweep your powder brush or your blush brush on your blusher and simply apply it on your cheek.

Now will come to the last part. Lipstick.

                                                  Red

Lipstick- Before you apply your lipstick make sure that you moisturize your lips with lips moisturizer. It will prevent your lips from chapping and drying. A moisturized lip is more on the healthy lips I can say. Once your lips are already moisturized you can now apply your desired lipstick. There is a lot of lipstick colour in the market you can choose from. But in my opinion you can buy at list 3 colours. This colour’s I can say is a must. This is the Red, pink and the nude. With this colour you can mix and match this with all type of eye makeup. Be creative and imaginative. But in this look (smoky brown) we can use this 3 colour. It depends on your mood. Me, I prepare the pink. It’s more on the sweet with kind of a sultry sexy, innocent look. So I go for the Pink colour.

And now were finish and you’re off to go. If you want to go for a party or to prom you can rock this look. It can match on different outfit you wish to wear. And for your makeup to go, always bring your press powder, lipstick, lips gloss and concealer. Just in case you need some touch up. And don’t forget also your blotting paper.
