Justin Bieber tops Adele for biggest video of 2016

Justin Bieber's "Sorry" beat Adele's "Hello," to become the biggest video of the year, says music destination Vevo.

Fans streamed the dance video — which doesn't even feature the singer — a stunning 1.8 billion times in 2016.

The song was released on the same day as Adele's "Hello," in October 2015. That video attracted 1.2 billion plays. Last year's chart-topper, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" snagged 1.2 billion plays also.

Sultry British songbird Adele, however, beat the Biebs to top Billboard's Hot 100. The music bible reported Thursday that Adele's album "25" sold 9.1 million copies, making her the artist of the year.

Bieber's "Purpose" came in third place, while Drake's "Views" took the silver.

YouTube, which also hosts Vevo music content, shared its top video views of the year: Fifth Harmony took the top spot with "Work from Home," garnering more than a billion views.

Music is a driving force for Web traffic. Vevo notched 48 percent growth in mobile usage.
