Drake's new single "God's Plan" has made history by starting its run on the Hot 100 in the highest position possible, which is something even he has never done before. Fewer than 30 singles in U.S. history have managed to begin at No. 1, and now the hip-hop superstar has joined a club with members like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. A No. 1 debut is certainly an impressive accomplishment, but that's not the only reason Drake is celebrating this week. Just a few positions down, he takes up more space, which is also a rare feat, even for the biggest stars on the planet.
Just behind "God's Plan" comes Ed Sheeran's "Perfect," which now is only credited to the singer-songwriter, remains at No. 2. The sweet tune led for half a dozen frames, but now it seems like it will slowly (perhaps very, very slowly) drift down the list and eventually fall out of the top 10.
After finally reaching the summit last frame, Camila Cabello's first No. 1 hit "Havana" has dipped to No. 3, leapfrogging over Ed Sheeran. The song, which serves as the biggest (and according to some accounts, the lead) single off of the former Fifth Harmony singer's debut self-titled record Camila (which also just ceded the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200), had to wait two months before it could move up the one rung separating it from history.
Former eight-week leader "Rockstar," which is fronted by Post Malone and which features 21 Savage, is at No. 4, just ahead of Bruno Mars and Cardi B's "Finesse." The latter track might grow on next week's chart after the stellar showing the two artists put on at the Grammy Awards this past Sunday evening. Pop singer Halsey's solo top 10 hit "Bad At Love" comes up next, settling at No. 6 this week.
Drake starts a second new tune inside the uppermost region on the Hot 100 this turn, as his other just-released track "Diplomatic Immunity" opens at No. 7. The song, which was released alongside "God's Plan" as part of a two-track EP entitled Scary Hours, is his twenty-second top 10 on the all-encompassing tally.
The final three slots are filled by Dua Lipa's "New Rules" at No. 8, Imagine Dragons' "Thunder" at No. 9 and finally G-Eazy's "No Limit," which also features Cardi B and A$AP Rocky.
