LeBron James‘s Nike LeBron 17 has released in a new “Infrared” colorway that’s inspired by the legendary Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared.” The King’s signature line is certainly no stranger to saluting his favorite archival silhouettes, with the #LeBron Watch program churning out LeBron 15s and LeBron 16s inspired by everything from the ACG Mowabb to the Air Trainer 3 “Medicine Ball” in years past. However, this is the first LeBron 17 to receive such a makeover — and the first to directly salute an Air Jordan as well.
Presenting a clean and classic look, this “Infrared” makeup calls upon a textured black Battleknit upper, interwoven with a healthy dose of red thread through the heel and midfoot. The vast majority of the AJ6 inspiration is present on the tongue, which offers a signature infrared lace lock with a graphic of a leaping LeBron in place of Michael Jordan‘s Jumpman logo. A bold red chenille “23” graphic and scrawled white “LeBron” logo appear up top, with the line’s signature glowering red-eyed lion graphic moved towards the bottom of the throat. LJ crown motifs appear at the tongue’s peak, and a classic Nike Air hit from the AJ6’s heel is printed on the toe cap.
Heel cages equip a large white reversed Swoosh, and the midsole’s signature two-part cushioning system offers a vibrant red Air Max unit in the heel and a duo of Zoom Air pods towards the forefoot. This makes for a setup that’s both supportive and responsive, ideal for King James’s versatile style of play. A black outsole completes the look.
The Nike LeBron 17 “Infrared” is available now via atmos Tokyo, and will release in the US on January 8. The MSRP is set at $200 USD.
Nike has been doubling down on its policies as of late, reminding retailers not to ship internationally.
